It’s Spring! The sides of the trail have been mowed and poisoned, but new resilient plants continue to grow! I’d love to have you join me on my walks and as I research the plants that I find.
Butterweed, Feb – Apr 2023
It’s been Spring for a while. The Greenway has been mowed which allowed other plants to take over. Take a look at my latest entry to see what’s growing.
Coral Vine, Tel Aviv-Jaffa
The Coral Vine is the latest wildflower of Israel series. Take some time out and stroll with me on the edge of the Mediterranean Sea and discover this pretty bloom.
Golden Dewdrop, Jaffa Israel
This Golden Dewdrop was photographed in Israel, but the plant also grows in the U.S.A. Check out the Welcome page and my latest blog to learn more about this amazing plant!
Lantana, Jaffa Oct. 31
Lantana is a beautiful flowering shrub in temperate climates, but an invasive weed in tropical ones. But killing it with Glyphosate is a very bad idea. Learn about this plant but more importantly about also the main ingredient of Roundup in my latest entry. Widespread use of Glyphosate is ubiquitous, and probably causes terrible health problems for all of us.
Chinese Wedelia; Jaffa, Israel
This wildflower was really the first one that I saw on my arrival in Israel, but identifying it turned out to be so confusing that it’s taken me a while to post this. I’ll be painting the flower soon, so stay tuned and Happy New Year 2023 everyone! It’s going to be a good one. I can feel it!
Cairo Morning Glory, 10-31
Join me as I travel Israel and the Middle East and discover the wildflowers that grow there. They might be very different from those growing in our backyards.
Frost Asters, November 16
Nothing much is growing on the Greenway after the killer frost except for some Canadian Goldenrod and Frost Asters. Read about what I’m up to now in my latest blog.
Man-of-the-Earth Morning Glories, June 26 – September 17
Did you know that the tubers of this plant had been an important food source for native people for centuries? Find out more about it in my latest blog.
Yacon, or Bear’s Foot, Aug. 23
Is this plant the exotic and nutritious Yacón plant, or the more likely native Bear’s Foot? Read about my dilemma trying to figure this out in my latest blog.
